Escape to the beautiful Northern California Sierra foothills and our private ranch. Bring your dogs, and/or enjoy spending time with our animals (dogs, horses, mini donkeys, and chickens, with fencing to keep safely separated from guest dogs).
There are many things to enjoy on our 60-acre property from off-leash hiking trails, dog/people swimming pond, hot tub, game room, and spectacular views from our hilltop house.
The Dog & Pony Ranch is a reasonably short drive from Sacramento and SF/San Jose Bay Area for easy getaways. Our location offers rural privacy to re-connect with nature away from city noise and stress.
Plan Your Visit
Guests LOVE our unique dog-friendly ranch, and we're glad that 1000's of people and their pets have gotten to experience our special place -- there's nothing like seeing how happy dogs are when they get to run leash-free while exploring all the smells with miles of private trails.
Overnight guests have private use of the guest quarters with lots of amenities including a romantic master suite with king canopy bed, fireplace, and jetted tub. Day Visit guests also have access to the guest house to use the bathroom/kitchen and relax on the private covered patio between walks with the dogs. There is plenty of parking and a fenced yard for guest dogs.
We host only one group at a time (NO overlapping times between Overnight and Day Visits) so you have as much privacy as you want in this relaxing rural paradise.

What makes our Dog & Pony Ranch so special are the many features that have been designed for 4-footed family members who are not only “dogs considered” but DOGS WELCOME! No extra charges for well-behaved dogs (unless damages). Extensive fencing around entire 60 acres, multiple dog yards, and pastures keeps dogs safely separated as needed. |
Barn Animals
While enjoying the beautiful property during your country getaway, guests may join our daily barn visits to interact with the animals. Meet our dog-friendly horses and pet our darling mini donkeys while feeding them treats we provide. Enjoy farm-fresh eggs after collecting them from the coop or just have a laugh while watching the chickens run and play. |
Location
Dog & Pony Ranch is located in Northern California's gold country a reasonably short drive from Sacramento (1 hr) and SF/San Jose Bay Area (2-3 hrs) . Amador County is rich with history and small town charm, along with the new "gold" of the area: vineyards and wineries!
The property has the best of both worlds offering peaceful seclusion on 60 private fenced acres, while being close to the conveniences of small country towns (Pine Grove, Jackson and Sutter Creek) for groceries, restaurants, and more.
