Amazing home and views!
We loved this home so much! The house is gorgeous and the views are amazing. Everything is so well though out. I brought my boys and we never left the property. The hike around the property was a good workout and we loved the basketball court and all the fun things to do in the game room. It was such a relaxing long weekend. We are so happy that the Harrell's shared their beautiful new home!
A private, country getaway
I am so long overdue in this review. We had the best vacation at the ranch last summer. It's a self-contained destination, if you want it to be. If you have a dog, I can't imagine a better place to play. Fully fenced yards and acreage. Trails all over the property- we absolutely loved waking up and going on leash-free walks. The house is great- comfortable, upscale and comfortable. The land is a dream. My husband and daughter loved swimming in the swimming hole every day. There was a random issue with the electric gate- the owner immediately drove hours to remedy the situation and was so kind. The owners were absolutely lovely and communicative. The little towns around the house were so fun to explore. Can't recommend this property highly enough.

Everything was perfect, we found the home exceptionally clean and beautiful. They have everything you need, from cookware, appliances, games, and anything you need for your pups. My wife and I have rented dozens of homes, we have been fooled by the pictures, this home and property looks better in person. There are trails to hike, all kinds of outdoor games to play, the pups are so tired and the end of the day they beg to go to bed. This is one of the few homes we have rented that everything works. Thanks for sharing your home with us. We will want to come back. (The bed is fine).
The place is beautiful.
Being in the middle of no where, there are still plenty of things to do or you can just kick back and relax. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. My daughter loved going swimming in the pond and then later going into the hot tub. It's a paradise for our dog where he can roam free.

Dealing with the owner, Cindy, was so easy -- she could not have been more helpful.
We were no stop busy -- using the basket ball court and horseshoe area. Kids and dogs played in the pond and near by lake.
The house is so well equipped - and very clean. It seems like they have thought of everything.
We drove to Sutter one night for dinner - very charming little town.
Loved the quietness of the property -- great view of the stars at night.

Exceeds every expectation!
Dog and Pony Ranch must be every pup's dream come true - it definitely was for mine! Our border collie loved exploring the trails and taking a dip in the pond. We spent hours playing frisbee with him and it was great to know that he could run free without being in any danger, thanks to the fencing around the property.
The house itself is just as amazing as the land it's on. We could immediately tell how much thought had gone into every single detail, from the design and decor to the finishing touches, including a truly thoughtful welcoming basket.
Oh, and for anyone concerned about this sort of thing, I had surprisingly good reception on Verizon in the area. I didn't have service driving through some parts of the town, but for the most part, I had LTE coverage. Reception at the ranch was always fine. My husband has AT&T and had a similar experience.
But honestly, one of the best parts about this getaway was disconnecting from the phone and getting to spend real quality time with my husband and dog - so who cares about cell reception, right? Our dog was one exhausted but incredibly happy pup at the end of our stay.

The Perfect Anniversary Gift
We recently rented the Dog & Pony Ranch in Feb 2016 and it was 100% more than we could have hoped for and imagined. We have rented homes over the years and, to be honest, sometimes the pictures are better than the properties. That does not apply here. The house and the property are beautiful. Our Zeus and Hera have never run so free before and, I must admit, I got teary-eyed a couple times watching them run around. Zeus has always been a swimmer, but this time Hera was able to enjoy splashing around in the pond as well.
The property is fenced in and you can walk and walk (which was great exercise for us) and let the dogs run free. We have a small yard at home and it was touching to watch our 100 pound baby run and turn around to make sure that we were still behind him. The property is surrounded by so many trees that you just want to stay outside and enjoy the sounds of the night.
The inside of the home is so well taken care of; they thought of everything: plenty of cooking utensils (all looking new), pots, pans, spices, and even condiments in the refrigerator.
We absolutely plan on returning sometime soon.
Even Better Than Before!!!
Our family has stayed at the Dog & Pony Ranch several times over the years and we’ve got to say the new expansion is AMAZING and even better than the super nice original part of the house! The new master bedroom is so luxurious and my wife's elderly parents appreciated the grab bars in the master bathroom. My wife and I got the sleeper sofa and it was surprisingly comfortable. The kids loved the loft as a place to hang out and enjoy their electronic gadgets. The outside is nicely enhanced too and we all enjoyed s’mores around the new fire pit. Our most recent trip in November had a day of rain but there was lots to do inside with games, movies and a nice cozy fire and made everyone enjoy the outside and blue skies the next day even more. We’ll keep coming back to Jackson as long as Cyndi & Troy continue to share their special home!
Idyllic spot
Everything you need for a family vacation is on this lovely property. It's all in the description and it's all accurate. What a pleasure to find dogs welcomed and provided with entertainments, rather than just tolerated!
A breathtaking property!!!
My bf, fur kids and I stayed at this beautiful property 4th of July week in 2014. We wanted to find a place to take our fur kids and get away from the firework noise. It was the first 4th of July that we had enjoyed in so many years. It was a quiet peaceful 4th with two very happy dogs. I'm updating my comment now because I have to share the news!
Staying at the ranch changed our lives so unexpectedly and in the best way ever!! The property really is so inspiring! We were so impressed with the dog and pony ranch that we decided to find our own home in the area. By November we had bought our own home on 40 acres!
While staying at the ranch Cyndi left us a book of places to eat and everything else you can think of to do. There is so much to do and see in the area. The people in the Sutter Creek/Jackson area are so nice and helpful. There is also so much to do and see on the ranch that you don't even have to leave! In the morning I really enjoyed having a cup of coffee on the back patio smelling the crisp, clean morning air which is so unlike the city air. While at the ranch we felt like we were so far away from our crazy busy lives and were able to relax with our fur kids.
Thank you again Cyndi and Troy for sharing your beautiful property with us and everyone else to enjoy. The new construction looks amazing!! I didn't think it could get any better than before but you have once again added so much character and charm to your beautiful home!!
Magical Place
My husband and I have rented many homes on VRBO but this one was by FAR the best. Everything about this property is amazing. It is so rare to find a dog friendly home that is so clean and comfortable. This was truly a vacation for us and we were very sad to have to leave. We love to travel so we have yet to go to the same place twice but we are already looking at dates to return. Thank you so much for sharing your home!
Love the loft!
The experience I had was amazing. The house is gorgeous, first if all. Comfortable, original design, and beautifully furnished. Particularly the loft which can be reached by a lovely hand-made pine staircase. It was the perfect spot to enjoy a book. Comfy futon and great natural lighting.
After the house, the property is breathtaking. Trails, the pond, a basketball court, and the most beautiful sunsets. Dogs and humans will both be in for a treat.
I highly recommend this Ranch and hope to stay again soon.
So much fun!
The two of us and our 15 month old Golden Retriever had a terrific week at the Dog and Pony Ranch. Our dog could not believe that we would let him walk out the front door off leash and run ahead of us up the hills. The sunsets were beautiful. so we were on the patio every night with wine and cheese and enjoying the colors sweep across the sky. The hiking was fun for all three of us, but the pond was Leo's favorite spot, of course. The house is beautiful, clean, and includes all the amenities we wanted. We had a wonderful time fixing meals in the spacious kitchen. The owners answered all of our questions before we arrived and even promptly responded to a question while we were there. We knew from our first day at the Dog and Pony Ranch that we would return again.
Heaven for family and dog!
This place was a joy for all 7 of us: three adults, three kids 11-12 years old, and our big puppy. It is such a delight to be able to have our dog off-leash all the time! Our 50 lb puppy just turned into a different, happier dog there. My favorite times there were walking with the kids and friends through the gorgeous trails on the property with our dog loping along ahead and circling back, running free. The house is so beautiful, although the main house won't be available in the future. The sunset views from the patio were so breathtaking. The place has 5 dog beds, dog dishes, and a dog door in one of the bedrooms. Lots of fencing made it safe for our dog at night. There is plenty for a family to do in the area: gold panning, Gabby's gold country tours (with dog), hiking around Lake Tabeaud which is about a mile away. We can't wait to get back!
Absolutely Delightful Stay
We just returned from several heavenly days at the Dog and Pony Ranch and all I can do is rave about it. From the moment we turned onto the driveway and headed up the hill I knew we were in for a treat that was going to exceed our high expectations. And oh, gosh did it! The property itself is amazing - trees, trails, the swimming pond, even a horse arena and stables. And then the house, oh the house. Vaulted ceilings, huge windows, state of the art appliances, heavenly linens - everything is well thought out and well designed. Sofas are comfy, beds perfect, all the furniture and furnishings are very high end rustic. Even the patio furniture was inviting, cozy, and set up just where you needed it. Want to watch a sunset, perfect patio just for that. Dog on the agility course? Try the Adirondack chairs nearby. Down by the pond? Pull up a seat. Hike to the very scenic overlook and hello, perfect picnic table!
The owners have done an amazing job developing this heavenly place and no detail is overlooked. Highly recommend!!!
Beautiful property!
We came with six mini snauzers, and they had a blast. Slept for 2 days when we got home. We rented this well kept beautiful property because it was pet friendly. This was a vacation for our babies and for us too. We will definitely rent again. The owner I spoke to on phone and emails was super friendly and also has babies of her own. She was so helpful and nice to deal with. Super easy booking our dates, got back to me promptly. I would recommend this property to all dog owners so there babies can have a great time too. Very clean and beautiful dream kitchen.
DOGGIE HEAVEN
Troy and Cyndi have done a fabulous job turning 60 acres into paradise. Then on top of that they decided to share what they have with other dog lovers. This place is top of the line in all areas. Very dog friendly, the best of everything inside and out. No expense was spared when they built and furnished this home. Houseguests or dogs want for nothing. Cyndi is easy to communicate with and get answers to any questions. Troy went out of his way to make sure everything was working properly. We stayed five nights and the time flew by. Our Labrador loved the place and pond. He felt at home and was dead tired by the time we left. We travel and have been to many vacation rentals, this is at the top of the list and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to take their furry family.
The D&P Ranch is ADDICTING!!!
This property is the definition of pet friendly! I searched and this is the only secluded property that I could find to escape the 4th of July noise. Our dogs don't care for fireworks and we don't like to see them terrified from the noise. Mission accomplished because we didn't hear a sound! I contacted Cyndi and could tell that her and Troy loved animals from the first email exchange. Cyndi is so personable, sweet and accommodating! I told her that we were celebrating the 4th and my b'day so she included a b'day card for me in the basket of goodies left for us! She thinks of every detail. The directions she gave us were easy to follow. As we drove up the hill towards the house we passed the pond where we could see the birds and a squirrel drinking water. When you walk in the house you feel like you're home. It gives you that comfy cozy feeling. The house is beautifully decorated, clean and so pet friendly. There are dog beds, bowls and a doggy door. The kitchen is spacious and has all you need to create a delicious meal. We drank coffee on the back patio in the am while watching deer, listening to birds chirp and watched the sunset in the evenings. It was hot and the dogs loved the pond! My bf enjoyed the basketball court which is really spacious! We played ping pong in the garage. The TV is a nice size and has surround sound. We were able to watch movies on netflix. There is also a large area with green turf and the dogs spent hours playing. The dogs had so much fun on the property it was hard to get them to take a break to eat. There are also adventurous trails to explore. We felt like we were in our own 60 acre secluded park! We also enjoyed reading the book about how the D&P began and viewing the construction pics on the website. There has been so much hard work and love put into creating this wonderful property! Beware this property is addicting! We booked our next trip in August while we were there. Thank you Cyndi and Troy for giving us a piece of paradise to enjoy with our kids (dogs)! I highly recommend this property and plan to visit often! I can't wait to tell my friends and family about the Dog and Pony Ranch!
doggie Disneyland
This had a beautiful house, all new everything! There are 2 queen sized beds one futon and a fold out bed located in the huge walk in closet. She shower is fantastic! They have a wonderful 4 person spa with a view of the Central Valley. The fenced in backyard kept my Doberman contained, and he had a great time checking out the deer and squirrels. There is a foosball table, and ping pong table in the garage, and a fabulous pond down the road that the dogs can swim in. We went on the trail all around the property, beautiful flowers and surprises around every bend. No one else around anywhere! town is not too far away,plenty of restaurants and grocery stores to pick from. We chose to BBQ steaks and hang out by ourselves. Cant say enough about this place. Hope it doesn't fill up too soon! Just up Highway 88 is the most scenic part of all of California!
A wonderful retreat with every amenity you can think of.
We spent four nights at the Dog & Pony Ranch, without a dog, and had a wonderful time. Every detail was carefully thought through by the owners. All the basics are supplied and then some. We've rented a lot of VRBO properties but this one was the most prepared of any with videos to show how things work and lots of little tags to explain how to use the amenities in the beautiful house. It was far away from the noise but close enough to town that you don't feel too far removed. The beds and bedding were so comfortable, the kitchen a dream and the outdoor areas incredibly peaceful and relaxing. I wouldn't change a thing!
Perfect Respite
We were looking for an escape that was pet friendly, and found this perfect respite. The home is beautiful, well appointed and comfortable. We really enjoyed the hot tub and walking trails on the 60 fully fenced acres. It was great to be able to walk our dog off leash with no interference except the occasional jack rabbit or squirrel. We will certainly return and can highly recommend this property.
Great Private Retreat
We stayed at this wonderful place for three nights in April 2014. It was fantastic - beautiful, extremely clean and very private, A pond for the dogs to swim and hiking trails throughout the property. Wonderful warm evenings on the patio.
Kitchen stocked with anything you might need. Recommended highly!
Rest, Relaxation, and Outdoor Fun!
This is our second stay at the Dog & Pony Ranch - and we will definitely return again! The property is conveniently located yet secluded and has all (ALL!) the comforts of home. (There is an awesome Raley's market nearby.) We enjoyed hiking and relaxing in the hot tub while watching the glorious sunsets - and our dogs had so much fun retrieving bumpers in the lake, leading the way on our hikes, and performaing agility exercises! We saw deer and wild turkeys, too. The owners are super attentive and the home and amenities are immaculate.

Absolutely Wonderful!
What a fantastic place for a weekend retreat! My husband and I along with our 9 year old black lab enjoyed a spectacular weekend of rest, relaxation and adventure. The home is incredibly beautiful and comfortable. This place does not feel like a vacation home. We really felt that we were staying at a friend's place for the weekend. The property is wonderful too and there were plenty of places to hike, explore and swim (only for the dog in January though!). We watched beautiful sunsets while relaxing in the hot tub. The amenities at this place are endless. I highly recommend the Dog & Pony Ranch to anyone who has a 4-legged friend that they want to bring on vacation with them. We all had a fantastic time and will definitely be back. My only hesitation with giving a 5 star review is that too many people will discover this gem and it won't be available when we want to visit!
A little piece of Paradise for sure!
This property is fabulous and so are the owners! We enjoyed the week before Christmas relaxing with our Pets and some friends at the Ranch. It is just beautiful and so peaceful! Every day we had glorious Sunsets. Every morning we relaxed in the Hot Tub. The kitchen is a chefs dream, spacious and very well equipped & supplied. The owners have gone out of their way to provide so many things for their guests enjoyment!! The decor in the house is very just lovely and everything was so comfortable & cozy. WILL return!!
A Beautiful Part of the World
This was a wonderful vacation spot for my parents, my pug, and me. We had a great time cooking in the gourmet kitchen, relaxing by the fine, sipping wine in the hot tub, and watching the sunrise and sunset. We also enjoyed all the trails the property has to offer -- such a great little part of the world. The ranch is extremely close to wonderful wineries and cute, gold rush towns. Highly recommended...
A wonderful getaway for doggies & their humans :)
Fantastic home and every interaction with the owner, Cyndi, was lovely. Our dogs were in absolute heaven with all of the wonderful trails and smells to explore. The kitchen and furnishings are all top notch and Cyndi's thoughtful information book with details of the property and the nearby areas made for great day trips.
We enjoyed perfect days starting with coffee on the patio in the morning, hiking around the property and playing in the pond, then wine in the evening while watching the gorgeous sunsets over the hills... and listening to two Very Tired dogs snore - yes, a great time was had by all. We're already looking forward to planing another visit next spring.
Perfect Vacation Spent With Our Four Legged Kids
We had the best vacation ever because we were able to include our two dogs. The house was extremely nice for a rental property and had amenities beyond belief. We spent most of the time playing: we hiked, swam, played: basketball, fetch, ping-pong and more. The house was well equipped for people who like to BBQ and cook their own meals.
The property is absolutely beautiful and the nights were well spent under the stars. Cyndi is one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with when planning a vacation. She gave us all kinds of great ideas of places to go and things to do and even a half way of the drive potty stop for the dogs.
You can tell the owners really love their animals and have created an ideal home away from home for all family members.
I would absolutely recommend this property to my friends and family.
We are already looking into booking our next visit.
Two Paws Up!
When I first saw The Dog & Pony Ranch online, I knew it would be the perfect getaway for my family. Not only were dogs allowed, but encouraged! Between the doggie door, over-size comfy dog beds (I counted 5!), bowls provided and treats, your pup will surely feel special! The owner, Cyndi is also a treat to work with. She is personable and happy to answer any questions you may have about your stay. She and her husband turned the undeveloped land into a thing of beauty. The property is amazing and the home is clearly custom with nice dog and pony touches thoughout. It is fairly quiet and remote, but has a resort feel because of the home's amenities. Our dogs had the best time running up and down the trails off leash. We got rain on Saturday (the forecast projected sunshine and 80 degree weather), but the pups were undeterred and romped in the rain. The ladies took the opportunity to drive into town and explore the antique shops while the fellas played ping pong. We were surprised to see that many of the shops closed at 5pm, but the day we went was a special event, including refreshments, entertainment and several stores open until 8pm. Cyndi offered us a late checkout on Sunday and thankfully it was all sunny skies! Therefore, we were really able to enjoy another half day of exploring the expansive property. Had the best time and my dogs have barely moved from the couch since we've been home:) Thank you Cyndi and Troy for opening your home to us.
Relaxing Get Away!

Wonderful Getaway!
The house is beautiful. The property is gorgeous. Our dogs loved it. I am pretty sure they thought they were in doggie Disneyland! We have never stayed at such a pet friendly place. Not only did the owners have a welcome treat for us (wine & candy), they had welcome treats for the dogs (dog biscuits)! We took wonderful walks on the property & even saw deer! Then we could relax in the evenings either outside on the patio or inside in their beautiful home. You have the whole place to yourself & can really relax & enjoy it! The owners even extended the checkout time since we were arriving so late on 8/15 & their next renters weren't arriving until the day after we left. I can't say enough about this place. You have to go!
Great place!
My family and two dogs stayed at the Dog & Pony Ranch last weekend and had a fabulous time. The house is everything we expected and more. The owners spared no expense when they built and furnished their home. The immediate yard was perfect for letting our dogs run around in, although our short-long dog (16 lbs.) was able to get under it :). This did not present a problem because beyond the fence was 60 fenced-acres for the dogs and my family to enjoy! It was also close (15 to 45 minutes depending) to so many outdoor activities. We highly recommend it.

There was a beautiful gift basket on the counter when we arrived. The whole place from the yard to the house to the garage was impeccably clean. It is definitely set up for pups and ours had a wonderful time. The sunsets were to die for. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. It has a full Safeway in Jackson, so no need to get groceries before hand and it has a couple of restaurants if you don't feel like cooking and want to pick up. Its a beautiful location for a family or a couple.

This was hands down one the the BEST getaways I have ever been on. The hosts were amazing and gave us plenty of details of what to expect before the stay and once you arrived they had a book full of helpful tips and activities for things around the property and town. Where we fully enjoyed our time, I think our dogs enjoyed it even more. They were able to run off leash until their hearts content. If you are looking for a place to disconnect from all of the hustle and bustle of "regular" life and just unwind for awhile, this this place is for you!!

Okay, I've stayed in some really awesome Airbnb's. I mean really awesome - one was perched on a cliff over looking waves crashing in a the shore below, another was nestled in the mountains of Big Sur providing a hardly believable panoramic view of the mountains. But this place is the absolute best Airbnb we have ever experienced. I mean from hot tubs, to beautifully manicured front and back, to basketball courts, ping-pong tables, to an incredible master bedroom, to two great and fully (and I mean fully) stocked kitchen with a trash compactor, to remarkable mountain views from all around the house and add to all this the house was impeccably clean, and so new the beautiful wood exterior had sap oozing from the pillars. All the appliances were brand new and top of the line and on and on and on to every last conceivable detail. All this the house, the property and the hosts, we can summarize in a single descriptive word: Spectacular! And as you would expect for anything this awesome, we only wish we could have extended our stay for a week. But alas, it was booked! If you have a choice, grab this place, it will not disappoint.

We just left this morning and we're wishing that we didn't have to. Had the whole house for us and our friends and 4 dogs. Our dog, Belle had a wonderful time, no time was spent on a leash and she loved sunning herself in the yard. Would recommend this Ranch to anyone interested. Plan on staying again.

We loved our month-long extended vacation here! Our three dogs were so happy running the trails and spending early morning hours checking our birds, deer and turkey.
